Mullins Lawyers promotes two to Partner

Brisbane-based firm recognises leading lawyers in Sports Law and Estate Litigation.

Mullins Lawyers has today announced the promotion of two senior lawyers, Juanita Maiden and Rachel Lusis, to Partner – recognising their exceptional contributions to their clients and the firm.

Juanita Maiden, a senior commercial lawyer with a distinguished career in sports law, and Rachel Lusis, a highly regarded estate litigation specialist, bring a wealth of expertise and leadership to Mullins’ growing partnership.

Juanita brings over 25 years of legal and executive experience, with deep expertise in commercial and succession law and a unique background in the sports industry.

With both CEO and board experience in the sports and events sectors, Juanita now advises clients on governance, commercial agreements, disputes, and tribunal matters alongside Partner, John Mullins. Her promotion was proudly announced by John at the 10th Annual Sports Leaders Luncheon at the Queensland Cricketers’ Club, an event that brings together key figures from the sports industry.

Juanita currently serves on multiple key industry bodies, including the Queensland Racing Appeals Panel and as Deputy Chair of the International Rugby League Judiciary, and is a member of the National Sports Tribunal Legal Assistance Panel and ANZSLA.

Rachel, a member of Mullins’ Wills and Estates team with 15 years’ experience, is known for her depth of expertise in estate litigation. Holding three law degrees, including a Master of Laws (Applied) majoring in Wills and Estates, Rachel advises clients on family provision applications, contested probate, superannuation disputes, and complex estate administration matters. She works closely with fellow Partner and leading succession lawyer, Michael Klatt, further strengthening Mullins’ reputation in this specialised area.

Her practical and empathetic approach is backed by earlier experience in family law and commercial litigation, enabling her to deliver holistic and strategic advice in sensitive legal matters.

Managing Partner, Sam McIvor, said “these appointments reflect not only Juanita and Rachel’s technical expertise and commitment to outstanding client service, but also the leadership they demonstrate within our firm and the wider legal profession. We are proud to welcome them to our partnership and look forward to their contribution to the firm’s ongoing growth and success.”

The firm has also announced further promotions across its practice groups, reinforcing its commitment to recognising and developing legal talent.
