Annual Indexation of the Skilled Visa Income Thresholds Effective From 1 July 2025

From 1 July 2025, the skilled visa income thresholds will increase by 4.6% to align with the changes to the annual Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings.

The indexation changes will apply to the following applications:

The Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT)

This will increase from $73,150 to $76,515.

The CSIT impacts nomination applications in the Core Skills stream of the 482 Skills in Demand Visa and the 186 Employer Nomination Scheme Visa.

The Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT)

This will increase from $135,000 to $141,210.

The SSIT impacts nomination applications in the Specialist Skills stream of the 482 Skills in Demand Visa.

The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT)

This will increase from $73,150 to $76,515 to align with the CSIT.

The TSMIT impacts nomination applications for the 494 Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa and the 187 Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme Visa.

What’s Next?

The increase in minimum income thresholds apply to nomination applications lodged from 1 July 2025.

These changes are not applied retrospectively, and will not apply to or impact existing visa holders and nomination applications lodged before 1 July 2025.

Please consider however, that existing visa holders may still need to have their salaries adjusted from 1 July 2025 to reflect the increase in superannuation guarantee i.e. they must not be paid less than the base salary nominated in their approved/lodged nomination application.

If you have queries about how these changes may impact your business, then please reach out to the Mullins Migration team for a confidential discussion.
